This Labour Day weekend, New York City's Randall's Island Park will come alive with the sights and sounds of the top international names in electronic dance music. Since 2009, the Electric Zoo music festival has called the Big Apple home, bringing together thousands of music fans, ages 18 and over, from around the world for a celebration of music. Along with DJs and live performances, the festival grounds are transformed into a colourful escape with art, interactive displays, vendors and fun activities to explore while you wait for your favourite acts to take the stage.

Get ready to dance the weekend away, as the festival makes its return on September 2, turning Randall's Island into a "Wild Island." Festival-goers will have the chance to enjoy three days jam-packed with music at multiple stages placed throughout festival grounds. Tips for Electric Zoo Festival

Now that your schedule is set, it's time to start preparing your festival essentials. Whether you're a frequent festival-goer or a newbie, here are some tips to keep in mind to have a fabulous time on "Wild Island."

Before you pack your purse or festival bag, check the Electric Zoo's FAQ page for a complete list of what you can and can't bring. The list will help you remember essential items like your ID, sunblock, lip balm, sun glasses, a rain poncho and dancing shoes. If you forget anything, there's a general store and vendors on-site with items for purchase. Before the start of each day, remember to bring along extra cash for merchandise and goodies from the many vendors, and charge your phone to capture every moment for all your friends back home to see.

Always take care of yourself during the festival, and hydrate often. Electric Zoo attendees can bring an empty refillable water bottle or purchase water on-site. Stop to refill your water bottle at free hydration stations throughout the grounds.

Most importantly, remember to have fun. Take a moment to relax on the festival's grassy hills and listen to the music or admire the art around you. With a picturesque backdrop of the New York City skyline, this is one musical experience you won't ever forget.
