I've owned this 1.4 tele-conconverter for a few months now and it's been great. It's attached to my A9 and 200-600mm Telephoto lens giving be 840mm at F9. The extra reach has been great. It's not cheap at £500. However I have no regrets.

I bought this teleconverter after purchasing the SAL20 2x teleconverter. The SAL14 is great when I just need that little more reach on the lens. The optical quality is perfect and with only 1 stop loss of light makes this a great addition to my kit.

I works great. Just like any other Teleconverter, it drops some f-stops so I usually try to avoid using it, but there are some situations it comes in handy. I keep it in my camera bag all the time. Most cases, I combine with 70-200mm f2.8, and I try to get somewhere 300mm focal length. I have 400mm and can't carry 300mm because it cost so much weight so this Teleconverer is a great solution for me.

I have owned the Sony 300mm f/2.8 G lens for a long time. I also had the Sony 2X TC but had mixed feelings about the results I was getting. The 2X caused loss of contrast and in low light my A900 would have difficulty finding auto-focus. After years of second guessing myself I finally bought the 1.4X TC. I wish I had bought it sooner. Other than the expected loss of one f-stop, there is no downside! My A900 is able to focus quickly in dim light and I can not see any degradation to image. In the example below there is zero cropping. Be aware that this TC will only work with some high end Sony lenses and is not compatible with all Sony lenses. Check before you buy.

I bought this 1.4 teleconverter because I cannot afford the 12,000 dollar 500mm telephoto lens. I thought I'd try this on my 70/400 mm telephoto lens. Problem is I cant manually focus the long shots, which is why I bought this. So I have this expensive piece of gear for moon shots. For now. All the Canon and Nikon guys have them, not sure why they have them, but I'll ask next time I go out. It looks good on my camera!
