I upgraded to the Sony VPL-VW885ES 4K projector from an Epson HC 5040UB projector. Even though the Epson accepts 4K video signals, and its output is near 4K quality using pixel shifting, one could see the difference from this native 4K projector. The Sony is sharper due to the smaller and larger volume of pixels making up the pictures. The picture from this Sony is bright, and its color is basically accurate right out of the box for the Cinema 1 and 2 and Reference modes. It handles HDR quite well, but I wish that it had more than 2,000 lumens, even if it was 2,500 like the VPL-VW1000ES or even better at 3,000+ lumens. However, with the 2,000 lumens, a 4K rated 120" diagonal Screen Innovations screen, I still get fantastic pictures, especially when watching 4K video content with HDR. The colors are robust, the pictures are crisp, sharp and clear. The sound from the fan is nearly nonexistent even when seating about 6 feet away from the projector when it is running at near to 100% laser output. I don't use 100% for watching movies, I tend to use 80% and that's sufficient light output in my dedicated theater room. I am about to have this projector professionally calibrated by a certified calibrator, so that its pictures would have even more "pop" than it has now. I can't wait. I stream 4K content from Amazon and Netflix and they look great, however not to the same level of detail as when watching a 4K Blu-ray disc or when watching native 4K content. This is one outstanding projector!

I just took delivery of mine, it is a stunning projector. Clarity is phenomenal and the colors pop and boy is it bright! My only gripe is Sony need to improve the black floor level and black crush that happens. Hopefully a firmware will fix this, until the 4* given the lower models seem to have better black perf . Overall I am super pleased with my purchase.
