Before You Start
- Make sure your camera is compatible with the PlayMemories Home™ (PMH) software. Check your manual for details.
- The PMH software ver. 2.0 or later supports data import through a wireless connection.
Solution
Follow these steps to troubleshoot this issue when your camera is connected to a wireless router, but can't connect to the computer due to the settings or connection status. Check if you can use the PMH software to transfer files wirelessly after each step.
- Make sure the camera and computer are connected to the same wireless router.
- Check the signal strength to prevent the connection from being interrupted while importing images. If the signal is weak, move to an area with a stronger signal.
- Images can't be imported wirelessly using the Wi-Fi Direct® feature.
- Update the PlayMemories Home software to the latest version.
- Make sure that the computer's network classification is set to Private network or Home network.

- Procedure for checking the network classification:
- Move the mouse cursor to the bottom left corner of the screen and click the Start menu button.
- Select Settings.
- Select Network & Internet.
- Select Network and Sharing Center.
- Check the network location shown under View your active networks.
- If a classification other than Private network appears, follow the procedure below to change it to Private network.
- Procedure for changing the network classification:
- Move the mouse cursor to the bottom left corner of the screen and click the Start menu button.
- Select Settings.
- Select Network & Internet.
- Select HomeGroup.
- Select Change Network Location and select Yes.

Windows® 8 operating system:
- Procedure for checking the network classification:
- Press the Windows Logo + X key combination on the keyboard and, from the list, click Control Panel.

- In the Control Panel window, click Network and Internet and then Network and Sharing Center.
- Check the network location shown under View your active networks.
- If a classification other than Private network appears, follow the procedure below to change it to Private network.
- Procedure for changing the network classification:
- Point to (but do not click) the lower-right or top-right corner of the screen, and then click to select the Settings charm.
Note: The Windows Logo + I key combination will also take you to the Settings screen.
- In the Settings screen, click the network icon.
- Right-click the currently connected network name to display the menu and then click Turn sharing on or off.
Note: For a wireless LAN connection, an icon showing the connection strength appears. For a wired LAN connection, an icon showing a computer with a cable appears.
- When Do you want to turn on sharing between PCs and connect to devices on this network? appears, click Yes, turn on sharing and connect to devices For home or work networks.

Windows® 7 operating system:
- From the Control Panel, click Network and Internet.
- Click Network and Sharing Center.
- Check the network location shown under View your active networks.
- If a classification other than Home network appears, click the displayed text to change it to Home network.
- Disconnect the camera from the wireless network to refresh the connection and then reconnect it again.
- Deactivate the firewall security software installed on the computer.
- Contact the manufacturer of your security software for more information.
- Perform a network settings reset on the camera.
