If this Digital Rights Management error occurs, make sure that you have the Windows Media® Player version 11 installed. You can find this version on the disc included with your portable player or you can download it from http://www.microsoft.com. If you are still getting this error after you have installed Windows Media Player version 11 or you were currently using Windows Media Player 11 when you received the error, follow these steps to troubleshoot:
- If you are using a hub, disconnect your portable player and connect it directly to the computer.
- Make sure you are using the supplied USB cable.
- If you have a network proxy enabled, disable the proxy and reconnect the device.
- If you still receive this message, format the player using the built-in Format utility of the portable player. This utility is located under the Common Settings menu.
