How many displays does my VAIO notebook and docking station support?
IMPORTANT: This article applies only to specific products and/or operating systems. Check Applicable Products and Categories for details.
When using the computer with or without the docking station, only one external display or monitor plus the LCD screen on the computer is supported.
Here are the supported display configurations when connecting an external display directly to the computer:
- The LCD screen built-in to the computer.
- One external display connected to the HDMI® port or VGA port of the computer and this depends on the performance mode you are using:
IMPORTANT: For model specific information about using the Speed or Stamina performance modes, consult the operating instructions supplied with the computer. Manuals are posted on your model support page.
- If using Speed mode, you have two options to connect the external display:
- Connect the external display to the HDMI port using an HDMI or HDMI-to-DVI cable.
- Connect the external display to the VGA port using a VGA-to-VGA cable.
- If using Stamina mode, you have only one option to connect the external display. Connect the external monitor to the VGA port using a VGA-to-VGA cable.
NOTE: The same rules and restrictions apply when using the DVI-D or VGA port on the docking station to connect an external display.
