Follow the steps below if the AutoPlay feature does not work.
- Ensure the Shell Hardware Detection service is running and set to Automatic .
- Ensure the Autoplay feature has been enabled for all media and devices.
- If after ensuring the Shell Hardware Detection service is running and the Autoplay feature has been enabled the AutoPlay (AutoRun) feature still does not work, create a backup of the Windows Registry and then download and install the AutoPlay / AutoRun Registry Patch from the Sony® PC Support Web site.
- If the Autoplay feature does not start with a home made DVD movie, make sure that DVD was created as movie disc not as data disc. This can be verified by attempting to play the DVD with the Windows Media Player® software. If the movie does not play, then the movie may need to be recreated using the option to burn the disc as a movie that all players can play.
