The picture or sound does not play back on a TV when the camera is connected with an HDMI cable.

Follow the steps below to troubleshoot this issue.

  1. Disconnect the HDMI® cable from the camera.
  2. Turn off the camera.
  3. Turn off the TV.
  4. Reconnect the HDMI cable to the camera.
  5. Turn on the camera.
  6. Turn on the TV.


  • If your TV only has a DVI port and you are using an HDMI-to-DVI adapter to connect the HDMI cable from the camera, there will not be any sound. This is because the DVI port on a TV only supports video.
  • Not all camcorders are capable with HDMI connection. To see if your camcorder has HDMI output, check the specifications. Manuals are posted on your model support page.
