A computer running Windows® XP operating system may not recognize the camera and display Check the connected device message when the version of the Windows Media® Player installed on the computer is version 10.

Follow these steps if you are using Windows XP with Window Media Player 10 and the error appears.

  1. Disconnect the camera from the computer,
  2. Change the USB Connect Setting to Mass Storage.
    1. Press the Menu button.
    2. Select Settings.
    3. Select USB Connect Settings.
    4. Select Mass Storage.
  3. Connect the camera to the computer.
  4. Transfer the images.
