How to connect the notebook to an external computer display.
IMPORTANT:
- If a Display Data Channel (DDC)2-compliant monitor is being used with the PCG R505TE/TS R505TEK/TSK, such as the SDM M81 Digital LCD display, the monitor may NOT be detected by the computer when connected to the PCGA DSD5 DSM5 docking station.
- If a Sony® DDC2-compliant monitor works when connected to one of the notebooks above when undocked, but does not work when docked and the monitor is connected to the docking station, then the Sony monitor must be sent for service to resolve the issue.
- If the same issue occurs with third-party monitors, contact the monitor manufacturer or connect the monitor to the notebook when undocked.
- Turn off the notebook.
- On the left side of the notebook, open the protective door.
- Plug the display cable into the monitor connector (indicated by the monitor symbol on the door).
- Plug one end of the display power cord into the display, and the other end into an AC outlet.
- Turn on the monitor and the notebook.
- To select display output, press Fn + F7 to toggle LCD Only, Display Only, or Both.
- If the image on the external display is panning, too large for the screen, or too small to be legible, but is the correct resolution, the Fn + F7 keys must be used to change the display output to the external monitor or projector only. This will allow the display to re-sync using a more compatible refresh rate.
- It may be necessary to change the output resolution for the external monitor to allow an image to display.
- The refresh rate for an external monitor or projector can be changed only if the LCD panel is toggled off and the correct external monitor or projector is selected within display properties. Once the refresh rate for the external monitor has been activated, the computer will switch the monitor back to 60 Hertz refresh any time the internal LCD panel is on.
- Ensure the extended desktop option is disabled.
