If the built-in flash does not always flash when taking pictures, then the camcorder may be in the Auto Flash mode. When set to the Auto Flash mode, the built-in flash will only flash if the camcorder determines there is insufficient lighting in the surrounding area to take a photo. To use the built-in flash every time regardless of the surrounding brightness, change the flash mode to Forced flash.
