When shooting in auto mode, the camera usually sets the appropriate exposure automatically. However, a black subject and white subject have different reflectance. Therefore, even if they are exposed to the same light, the amount of light received by the exposure meter is different. The camera may judge a white subject to be bright and a black subject to be dark even if the subject is not actually bright or dark, and set the wrong exposure.
- A Sony® camera with a manual exposure control will allow you to compensate during these unique situations.
- For model-specific information about manual exposure capabilities, refer to the operating instructions supplied with the product. Manuals are posted on your model support page.
