The Remote Control application does not work after installation of the Android 4.1 operating system update.

Follow these steps if the Remote Control application does not work after upgrading the Android operating system to version 4.1 (Jelly Bean).

  1. On the desktop, tap the Home icon.Image
  2. In the upper-right corner of the desktop home screen, tap the Apps & Widgets icon.Image
  3. In the Apps & Widgets screen, tap the Settings icon.Image
  4. In the Settings screen, tap to select Apps.
  5. In the Apps screen, tap to select the All tab.
  6. Under the All tab, scroll to locate and then tap the Remote Control app.

    NOTES:

    • Because each of the next three steps represents a possible solution to this issue, check the functionality of the Remote Control application after tapping each button and before tapping the next.
    • You will be presented with a confirmation prompt after tapping each button. At each prompt, tap OK.
  7. In the Remote Control info screen, tap the Force Stop button.
  8. If the problem still persists, tap the Clear Cache button.
  9. If the problem persists, tap the Clear Data button.
  10. If the Remote Control application still does not work, perform a factory data reset procedure .
The troubleshooting steps listed above should resolve your issue. If you have completed all of the steps and the issue is not resolved, service may be required. Begin the procedure to send your Sony product into a Sony facility to be repaired.
