Closed captions, also known as subtitles, display the audio portion of a TV program as text on the screen of your Android TV™ device. They include sound effects and scenic narration, but whether non-speech elements, such as falling objects, are available depends on the content.

Display Closed Captions on the TV Screen

Press the CC or Subtitle button on the supplied remote control to enable the Closed Caption (CC) feature. This feature is available on TV broadcasts, movies, Google Play™ Movies & TV app, and other apps.

  • Closed caption may not be available for some cable broadcasts, movies, and apps.
  • Some apps, such as Netflix, use their own setting menu to enable closed caption.
  • Some apps support text size and color changes.
    • Visit the support site for the apps for more information on how to enable other features.

Note:  The specifications of the Google Play Movies & TV app are subject to change without prior notice.
