Can I shoot 21:9 4K photos and videos with the Camera app?

IMPORTANT: This article applies only to specific products and/or operating systems. Check Applicable Products and Categories for details.

To record videos in 4K (3,840 x 1,644), you can use Cinema Pro. If you want to take 21:9 photos, also use Cinema Pro. To take a 4K (3,840 x 1,644) photo, first shoot a video clip. Then, while playing back the video, take a screenshot of the part of the video you want as a photo. If you settle for a 21:9 photo (2,520 x 1,080), tap the Grab button while you are in recording mode. The Grab button is available in the viewfinder when you're not recording.

The normal camera app is intended for casual usage of snapping everyday life, whereas Cinema Pro is intended for creating stories using 21:9 with professional parameters and color settings. 21:9 is the default aspect ratio set by film creators.

Note: From Xperia® 1 III and later models, the Camera app function has been merged to Photography Pro basic mode.
