What is Picture Transfer Protocol (PTP)?

PTP is a function that can be used in the Windows® XP, Windows Vista®, Windows 7, or Mac® OS® X operating system. It is called WIA in Windows and ICA in Macintosh. Other than the default Normal mode, you can select the PTP mode in your camera for connecting with the computer. The PTP mode is recommended for users who only want to copy images from the camera to the computer.

To use the PTP mode, set [USB Connect] to [PTP] in [Setup 2] in the SET UP settings. After that, just connect the camera containing the image data to your computer, and then a wizard to copy images starts up automatically. You do not need to install the drivers from the supplied CD-ROM.
