How to restore all the files from the latest backup made using the Windows Backup and Restore Center feature.
The Windows Backup and Restore feature allows you back up and restore files on your computer. Follow these steps to restore files using a backup you have already created .
WARNING: There is a risk of data loss. The Windows Backup and Restore feature is part of the operating system. Sony cannot guarantee that all or any data can be backed up, and once backed up, cannot guarantee that data can be restored from the backup.
IMPORTANT:
- A backup created with the Windows Backup and Restore feature must be restored using the Windows Backup and Restore feature. While Windows Backup and Restore backups can be browsed or explored, the content cannot be restored by copying or moving backup files to a computer hard drive.
- You already must have created a system image backup for this procedure to work.
- Make sure the media that contains the system image backup is available before proceeding.
NOTE: There are several different restore options within the Windows Backup and Restore Center. This procedure details how to do a complete restore of all the files from the latest backup.
- Ensure all running programs are closed.
- Insert the most recent backup disc (disc 1) in the optical drive.
NOTE: If an AutoPlay window appears for the disc you just inserted, click the X in the upper-right corner to close the window.
- Click the Start button, and then click Control Panel.
- In the Control Panel window, under System and Maintenance, click Backup your computer.
- In the Backup and Restore Center window, click Advanced restore.
- In the Backup Status and Configuration window, click the Advanced restore button.
NOTE: If prompted for an administrator password or a User Account Control prompt is displayed, type the appropriate password or click Continue.
- In the Restore files (advanced) window, click to select Files from the latest backup made on this computer, and then click the Next button.
- In the Select the files and folders to restore window, click to place a check in the box next to Restore everything in this backup, and then click the Next button.
- In the Where do you want to save the restored files window, click to select In the original location, and then click the Start restore button.

NOTE: If more than one disc was required when the backup was created, you will be prompted to insert the additional discs when required.
- In the Successfully restored files window, click the Finish button.
- In the Backup Status and Configuration window, click the X in the upper-right corner to close the window.
- In the Backup and Restore Center window, click the X in the upper-right corner to close the window.
- Restart the computer.
