Check the firmware version

Your firmware may already be up to date. If the version number is M17.R.0257 or higher, you do not need this update.

If you're not sure, it's easy to check which version of firmware you have:

  1. Turn on the TV and make sure it's tuned to the input to which the Blu-ray Disc player is connected (So if the player is connected to the HDMI 2 port, choose HDMI 2 as the input).
  2. Turn on the Blu-ray player.
  3. Press the [FUNCTION] button repeatedly until [BD/DVD] appears in the front panel display.
NOTE: If it starts to play a disc, press [STOP] and wait until you see the XrossMediaBar (XMB) menu screen.
  4. At the [XrossMediaBar] screen, use the arrow buttons on the remote control to select [Setup] > [System Settings] then select [ENTER].
  5. Select [System Information], and then press the [ENTER] button.
  6. The Software Version listed on the screen displays the current firmware version installed.
If the version number is M17.R.0257 or higher, you already have the most recent firmware version.

Depending on the network connection, the Update via the Internet process can take a long time (up to 60 minutes).
  • When running the Update via the Internet, the TV displays the message: "Connection status cannot be confirmed. Cannot communicate with the server. Please try again later." and you cannot perform the firmware upgrade.
    • Check the LAN cable is connected.
    • In the network settings, make sure you have confirmed whether or not your Blu-ray player has its own IP address (If you use a proxy server, type the IP address of the proxy you use, instead of the proxy host name, into the Proxy Server field).
