Benefits and improvements

This program updates the MC-P10 and NW-S4 device driver for SonicStage® version 1.5, SonicStage® version 1.0, and OpenMG™ Jukebox v2.2 applications to resolve the following issues:
  • A system error may occur when the MC-P10 or NW-S4 USB cable is connected and disconnected.
  • Playback stops when a song is played in the Network Walkman MC-P10 or NW-S4, because the song was registered in OpenMG™ Jukebox version 2.2 and SonicStage® in the Microsoft® Windows® XP Home Edition and Professional operating systems and the song data was improperly transmitted.

Before You Start


Important Notes
  • If your computer has both OpenMG™ Jukebox version 2.2 and SonicStage® version 1.5 installed, please DO NOT use both of the applications at the same time.
  • During the installation of this update, be sure that you are logged in as the Administrator or as a user with Administrative rights.
  • To ensure that no other program interferes with the installation, save all work and close all other programs. The Taskbar should be clear of applications before proceeding.
  • It is highly recommended to print out these instructions as a reference during the installation process.

Download & Install


Download and Installation Instructions
  1. Download the VMCDRV.EXE file to a temporary or download directory (please note this directory for reference).
  2. Go to the directory where the file was downloaded and double-click the VMCDRV.EXE file to begin the installation and follow the onscreen instructions.
    NOTE: If a " Software Installation" dialog box appears during the installation process, this is not a malfunction, click Continue Anyway.
  3. At the "InstallShield Wizard has finished performing maintenance operations on Music Clip Driver" box, Click Finish.
  4. Restart your computer.
    NOTE: A "Hardware Installation" dialog box may appear when your MC-P10 or NW-S4 is connected to the USB port for the first time. This is not a malfunction, click Continue Anyway..

After the computer restarts, the installation of the MC-P10 and NW-S4 driver for SonicStage® version 1.5, SonicStage® version 1.0, and OpenMG® Jukebox version 2.2 is completed.

Optional - Installation Verification
  1. Click Start, point to Settings, and click Control Panel.
  2. At the "Control Panel" window, click Switch to Classic View.
  3. At the Control Panel window, double-click the System icon.
  4. At the "System Properties" box, click the Hardware tab, then click Device Manager.
  5. At the "Device Manager" box, click the plus (+) next to Universal Serial Bus Controllers.
  6. Under the Universal Serial Bus category, right-click the Sony MusicClip PERSONAL_NETWORK PLAYER entry, then click Properties.
  7. At the "Sony MusicClip PERSONAL_NETWORK PLAYER" window, click the Driver tab, then click Driver Details.
  8. At the "Driver File Details" window, click the C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\DRIVERS\VMCUSB.SYS entry and check the file version. If the file version is "1.3.04.09110", the installation was successful.
