    IMPORTANT: This update is available only by performing a Network Upgrade.

    This firmware upgrade provides the following benefits:

    Improvements over version 2.01:

    • Improves the TV SideView connectivity with an iPhone® or iPod® device to the AV receiver
    • Improves connectivity via DLNA® devices
    • Improves the Music Unlimited operation from the AV receiver

    Benefits provided by previous updates and included in version 2.11:

    • Improved quality of vTuner streaming

    Before You Start

    Check the Current Firmware Version

    1. Power on the television and make sure it is tuned to the inputs to which the AV receiver is connected.
    2. Power on the AV receiver.
    3. On the AV receiver remote control, press the "HOME NETWORK" button.
    4. Press the "MENU" button to display the menu options on the television screen.
    5. Select "Settings", and then press the ENTER button ENTER Button.
    6. From the Settings menu list, select "Network", and then press the ENTER button ENTER Button.
    7. Select "Software Update", and then press the ENTER button ENTER Button.
    8. Select "Version", and then press the ENTER ENTER Button button.
    9. The firmware version currently installed on the AV receiver will be listed on the television screen. If the version number is 2.11 or higher, it is not necessary to install this firmware upgrade.

    Network Update Instructions

    The STR-DN1020 AV receiver firmware can only be upgraded by performing a Network Update.

    • Important Notes
      • If you have not done so already, please check the current firmware version to determine if this firmware upgrade is needed for your AV receiver.
      • WARNING!! Please follow the upgrade instructions carefully. Failure to follow the instructions may interrupt the upgrade process and may cause the AV receiver to be unresponsive or to require repair.
      • WARNING!! Do not power off the AV receiver or disconnect it from the AC power outlet. Loss of power during the installation of the firmware upgrade may cause the AV receiver to be unresponsive or to require repair.
      • In order to perform the Network Update it is necessary to have the receiver correctly connected to an active Internet connection.
      • In order to perform the firmware upgrade, it is necessary to have the receiver correctly connected to a compatible television.
      • It is highly recommended that you print out these instructions for use as a reference during the installation process.
    • Firmware Upgrade Instructions

      WARNING!! Please follow the upgrade instructions carefully. Failure to follow the instructions may interrupt the upgrade process and may cause the AV receiver to be unresponsive or to require repair.

      Note: The upgrade process usually takes about 20 minutes, depending on system configuration and network connection.

      1. Power on the television and make sure it is tuned to the inputs to which the AV receiver is connected.
      2. If you have not done so already, connect the LAN port on the receiver to your Internet source using an Ethernet cable.
      3. Power on the AV receiver.
      4. On the AV receiver remote control, press the "HOME" button, and then wait until the home menu is displayed on the television screen.
      5. Select "Settings", and then press the ENTER button ENTER Button.
      6. From the Settings menu list, select "Network", and then press the ENTER button ENTER Button.
      7. Select "Software Update", and then press the ENTER button ENTER Button.
      8. Select "Update", and then press the ENTER button ENTER Button. The receiver starts checking for the available software update.
      9. When the "Found latest update" message appears, press the ENTER button ENTER Button.
        Note: If an update is not available, the message "No update required" appears.
      10. To continue, select "OK" and then press the ENTER button ENTER Button.
      11. At the "END-USER LICENSE AGREEMENT FOR SONY SOFTWARE" message, read the agreement and follow the instructions to confirm the message, then, if you agree, select "Agree", and then press the ENTER button ENTER Button.
      12. The receiver software update begins.
        Note: The upgrade process usually takes about 20 minutes, depending on system configuration and network connection.
      13. When the "Complete!" message appears, the software update is finished. Press the power button to turn off the receiver.

      14. The receiver software is now updated.

      15. Check the current firmware version to confirm that the upgrade has successfully installed.
        Note: If the version number is 2.11, the firmware upgrade was successful.
