Please follow the steps below to check your television's software version to determine if it needs this software update:

1. Power on the TV.
2. On the TV remote control, press the "HOME" button to display the Menu screen.
3. On the remote control, use the arrows to select the Settings icon, and then press the OK button.
4. Use the arrows to highlight the Setup icon, and then press the OK button.
5. Use the arrows to highlight "Product Support", and then press the OK button.
6. Use the arrows to highlight "Contact Sony", and then press the OK button.
7. Check the Software Version displayed on the Contact Sony screen. If your software version is v1.012 or higher, your TV does not need this update.
   
   

1. Download the sony_tvupdate_2013_1012_auf_auth.zip file to a temporary or download directory (please note this directory for reference) on your computer.
2. Go to the directory where the file was downloaded and verify that the size of the sony_tvupdate_2013_1012_auf_auth.zip file is 31,742,269 bytes.
   1. Right-click the sony_tvupdate_2013_1012_auf_auth.zip file, and click "Properties".
   2. On the "sony_tvupdate_2013_1012_auf_auth.zip Properties" screen, verify that the "Size:" listed is "30.2 MB (31,742,269 bytes)".
      Note: The "Size on disk:" listed may be different. That is normal.
   3. If the file size is different than the "31,742,269 bytes", please download the sony_tvupdate_2013_1012_auf_auth.zip file again.
3. Extract the update file from the sony_tvupdate_2013_1012_auf_auth.zip file.
   • For Microsoft® Windows Vista®, Windows® 7, or Windows 8 operating system:
     1. Go to the directory where the file was downloaded and right-click the sony_tvupdate_2013_1012_auf_auth.zip file, and then click "Extract All.
        
        Note: For Windows 8, the default settings for Internet Explorer® will save the file in the Downloads folder. To locate the Downloads folder, click the "Desktop" tile from the Start screen and then locate the downloaded file using Windows Explorer.
     2. At the "Extract Compressed (Zipped) Folders" window, click "Extract"
     3. A new folder will be created called "sony_tvupdate_2013_1012_auf_auth"
     4. The new folder will contain the "sony_fw_2013_1012_AU2F1.pkg" update file
   • For Windows XP operating system:
     1. Go to the directory where the file was downloaded and right-click the sony_tvupdate_2013_1012_auf_auth.zip file, and then click "Extract All.
     2. At the "Extraction Wizard" dialog box, click "Next".
     3. Click "Next".
     4. Click "Finish".
     5. A new folder will be created called "sony_tvupdate_2013_1012_auf_auth"
     6. The new folder will contain the "sony_fw_2013_1012_AU2F1.pkg" update file
   • For Mac OS® X operating system:
     1. Go to the location where the file was downloaded and double-click the sony_tvupdate_2013_1012_auf_auth.zip file.
     2. A new folder will be created called
     3. The new folder will contain the "sony_fw_2013_1012_AU2F1.pkg" update file
4. Connect a compatible USB storage device to your computer.
   View formatting instructions and the list of compatible USB storage devices.
5. Transfer the update folder to the USB storage device:
   • For Windows operating system: Go to the directory where the folder was created and double-click to open the sony_tvupdate_2013_1012_auf_auth folder.
   • Right-click the sony_fw_2013_1012_AU2F1.pkg file and, from the menu, click "Send To...", and then click the drive (EX: Removable Disk E:) that represents your USB device. The update file will be copied onto your USB device.
   • For Mac OS X operating system: Open the "sony_tvupdate_2013_1012_auf_auth" folder, and then drag and drop the sony_fw_2013_1012_AU2F1.pkg file to the root folder of the USB device.
   Note: The update will not be performed if the file is not copied to the root directory of the USB device or if the name of the file is modified.
6. Remove the USB device from your computer.
7. Please continue to the next section.

WARNING! Do not power off the TV or disconnect it from the AC power source during the upgrade process. Loss of power during the installation of the firmware upgrade may cause the TV to be unusable and require repair.

It is recommended you completely read the instruction below before beginning the update process.

1. Power on the TV.
2. Disconnect the TV power cord.
   

   Important: Do not connect the USB storage device to the TV before the TV is disconnected from AC power.

3. Insert the USB storage device containing sony_fw_2013_1012_AU2F1.pkg file into the USB port located on the back of the TV.
   Note: The USB storage device can only be inserted into the USB port slot one way.
   
4. Reconnect the TV power cord. The update process will start automatically.
5. The POWER indicator will light up in green (no picture) for about 15 seconds, and then the indicator will start blinking in amber for about 1 minute. Then the update will finish and the indicator will light up in green again and TV will turn on automatically.
   
   CAUTION: DO NOT REMOVE THE USB DEVICE OR TURN OFF THE TV UNTIL THE UPDATE IS COMPLETE.
   
6. Disconnect the TV power cord and remove the USB storage device.
7. Reconnect the TV power cord, and then power on the TV.
8. The firmware update process is now complete.

Please follow the steps below to verify that the software was successfully updated:

1. Power on the TV.
2. On the TV remote control, press the "HOME" button to open the TV Home Menu.
3. On the remote control, use the arrows to select the Settings icon, and then press the OK button.
4. Use the arrows to highlight the Setup icon, and then press the OK button.
5. Use the arrows to highlight "Product Support", and then press the OK button.
6. Use the arrows to highlight "Contact Sony", and then press the OK button.
7. Check the Software Version displayed on the Contact Sony screen. If your software version is v1.012, the update was successful.
