Troubleshooting the BC-ZD1 battery charger

The BC-ZD1 battery charger is designed to charge the NP-Z100 battery efficiently. To ensure optimal performance, it is important to use the correct power adapter and cable. These are the requirements, examples, and key notes for using the BC-ZD1 charger.

    Minimum Requirements

    • USB PD output: Use a USB Power Delivery (PD) adapter with an output of 30 Watts (15 volts, 2 Amps) or more. If you use something less powerful, it’ll still work, but it’ll take longer to charge.
    • USB Type-C® cable: Use a USB-C to USB-C cable that supports 3 Amps or more. This ensures the charger gets enough power.

Examples of USB PD adapter usage

    • 5 Volts, 1.5 Amps adapter: When using a 5 volts USB Power Delivery adapter, the orange light blinks right away. This means the charger isn’t getting enough power to charge the battery. The charger is not defective; it simply requires more power to function.
    • 18 Watts adapter: When using a 18 Watts USB Power Delivery adapter, a solid orange light turns on. The charger detects the battery, and there is enough power to charge it. However, the charging process will take longer compared to using a 30W adapter.
    • 30 Watts (15 Volts, 2 Amps) adapter: When using a 30 Watts USB Power Delivery adapter, a solid orange light turns on. The charger detects the battery, and there is sufficient power to charge it efficiently.

Note: If you’re charging two batteries at once, the BC-ZD1 can handle it. Both batteries will charge simultaneously. Pay attention to the indicator lights: a blinking orange light means there’s not enough power, while a solid orange light means the battery is detected and charging.

    Troubleshooting Tips

    • If the charger doesn't work as expected, check the power adapter and cable specifications to ensure they meet the minimum requirements.
    • Clean the charger and battery contacts if the battery isn’t detected.
    • Test the charger with a different USB PD adapter or cable to rule out issues with the accessories.

By following these guidelines, you can ensure the BC-ZD1 battery charger operates efficiently and charges your NP-Z100 batteries effectively.
