Camera battery not charging when connected to an AC adapter via USB cable

Please check if your camera supports charging the battery while it is inserted and connected to a USB AC adapter. You should be able to confirm this in the Help Guide of your camera.

Ensure the Camera is powered off: Make sure that your camera is turned off. Unlike smartphones, the camera battery can't be charged while the camera is on, even during image playback.

    • If your camera doesn't include a USB AC adapter or USB cable, use a commercially available USB AC adapter and USB cable.
    • If your camera supports USB Power Delivery (USB PD), please use a USB PD compatible device with an output of 18W (9V/2A) or higher, and a USB Type-C® cable (USB-C to USB-C) that supports 3A or higher. This information should be available on the product, packaging or mentioned in the manual.
    • When using a USB AC adapter, ensure it has a rated output of at least 1.5A.
    • For some cameras with a Multi/Micro USB port and a USB Type-C™ port, charging via the Multi/Micro USB terminal is not possible. Please use the USB Type-C port.

    Check the USB cable connection

    1. Turn off the camera.
    2. Reinsert the battery.
    3. Connect the USB cable to the USB port on the camera.
    4. Connect the other end of the cable to a USB port on the AC adapter.
    5. Plug the AC adapter into a wall outlet.
    6. Confirm if the charge lamp lights up. This indicates that charging has begun.

    Troubleshooting

The charge lamp turns off immediately

If the charge lamp turns off right after charging starts, the battery may already be fully charged. Check the battery level on your camera to confirm.

If the charge lamp doesn't light up

    1. Remove the battery and reinsert it 2-3 times.
    2. If available, try charging with a different battery. The original battery may be faulty if the charge lamp lights up with a different battery.
