Please perform the following procedure.
- Please verify the following items:

- Make sure all devices connected between the Sound Bar and the router are switched on.
- Make sure all the cables between the Sound Bar and the router are correctly connected.
- Make sure the correct type of cable (straight or crossover) between the Sound Bar and the router is used.
- Using the remote control, select OK on the display and then press the Enter button.
- If you still can't perform the Update via Internet process, try the USB Storage Device (USB) Update procedure.
Q: The TV displays the message Connection status cannot be confirmed cannot communicate with the server. Please try again later, and you can't perform the firmware upgrade.
There may be a problem with the network connection.
- Make sure the Ethernet cable is securely connected to the LAN (100) terminal on the Sound Bar and to the internet source.
- Make sure the Sound Bar has its own IP address in network settings.

Note: If you use a proxy server, enter the IP address of the proxy server, instead of the proxy host name, in the Proxy Server input field.
- Try the update process again.
Q: The power was shut down during the update process.
Turn on the Sound Bar and try the update process again.
Q: After the Update via the Internet process has started, the message Download capacity: xxxxxxKB/xxxxxKB and xx% is displayed on the TV screen, but the progress bar on the display has not changed.
Depending on the network circumstances, the Update via Internet process can take a long time (up to 90 minutes) and can display this message for some time.
Q: The firmware update process isn't finished after running for more than 90 minutes.
This can occur with a slow network (speed less than 512Kbps). If the Sound Bar is connected via wireless to the network, cancel the process and connect directly to the network using a cable and try the procedure again. If the process still doesn't complete, cancel it and then use the USB Storage Device (USB) Update method instead.
Q: The firmware update continues to fail after multiple tries.
Use the USB Storage Device (USB) Update method instead.
Q: The message This device is not connected to network. Perform network diagnostics in the connection server setting is displayed on TV screen.
Make sure the LAN cable is connected to the Sound Bar and try the procedure again.
The message Already Updated is display on the TV screen.
The firmware version currently installed on the Sound Bar is the latest version.

With this method, you use a computer to download the firmware upgrade to USB storage device, and then install it from the USB storage device onto your Sound Bar. You'll need a USB storage device with 150MB space available, and your Sound Bar has to be connected to a TV.
STEP 1. Download and transfer the Update Files to Your USB Storage Device
- Download the UPDATE_M28R0476.zip file to a temporary or download directory (please note this directory for reference).
- Go to the directory where the file was downloaded and verify that the size of the UPDATE_M28R0476.zip file is 205,994,495 bytes.
- Right-click the UPDATE_M28R0476.zip file, and click Properties.
- On the UPDATE_M28R0476.zip Properties screen, verify that the Size: listed is 196 MB (205,994,495 bytes).
Note: The Size on disk: listed may be different. That is normal.
- If the file size is different than the 205,994,495 bytes, please download the UPDATE_M28R0476.zip file again.
- Extract the update files from the UPDATE_M28R0476.zip file.
- For Apple® Mac OS X® operating systems:
- Go to the location where the file was downloaded and double-click the UPDATE_M28R0476.zip file.
- A new folder will be created called UPDATE.
- For Microsoft® Windows® operating systems:
- Go to the directory where the file was downloaded and right-click the UPDATE_M28R0476.zip file, and then click Extract All.

Note: For Windows 8/8.1 and 10, the default settings for Internet Explorer® will save the file in the Downloads folder. For Windows 10, use File Explorer to locate the Downloads folder, for Windows 8/8.1, click the Desktop tile from the Start screen and then locate the downloaded file using Windows Explorer.
- At the Extract Compressed (Zipped) Folders window, click Extract.
- A new folder will be created called UPDATE.
The UPDATE folder will contain four extracted files: MSB28-FW.BIN, MSB28-FW.ID, MSB28-FW_MB.BIN, and MSB28-FW_MB.ID
- Connect a USB storage media device to your computer.
- Copy the UPDATE folder with the four extracted files onto the USB device:
- For Mac OS X operating systems: Drag and drop the UPDATE folder to the root directory of the USB device.
- For Windows operating systems: Right-click the UPDATE folder, click Send To..., and then click the drive letter representing your USB device (ex: E:\)
Notes: - The root directory is the drive itself. Just move a file directly to the drive and don't specify a folder.
- The update won't perform if the UPDATE folder isn't copied to the root directory of the USB device or if the name of the folder is modified.
- Remove the USB device from your computer.
- Continue to the next section
STEP 2. Perform the Firmware Update
The firmware upgrade process usually takes about 15 to 60 minutes. During the update, your TV screen will display progress information or may be blank. This is normal.
WARNING! Don't press any buttons, except as instructed, and don't remove the USB storage device from the Sound Bar until the update process is complete. Doing so can damage the Sound Bar to the point of requiring repair.
- Turn on the TV and make sure it's tuned to the inputs to which the Sound Bar is connected.
- Turn on the Sound Bar.
- Insert the USB storage device (with the latest software) into USB port.
- Press the HOME button on the remore control and wait until the home screen is displayed.
- At the Home screen, use the arrow buttons
on the remote control to select Setup, Software Update, and then press the ENTER
button. - Select Update via USB Memory, and then press the ENTER button.
- The message Update files found in the USB memory. Do you want to update software? Current version M28.R.xxxx New version M28.R.0476. Do not turn off the power or remove the USB memory during the update is displayed on the TV.
- Select OK and then press the ENTER button.
- The message Update Caution is displayed on the TV. Select OK, and then press the ENTER button.
- During the update process, the message UPDT is flashing on the front panel display.
- The firmware upgrade is complete when DONE appears on the front panel display. The system will automatically restart.
WARNING! Do not operate or power off the system until the update is complete. Doing so may cause the Sound Bar to be unresponsive or to require repair.
- When the update is complete, you may remove the USB device from the Sound Bar.
- Check the current firmware version to confirm that the update has successfully installed.
- If the last four digits of the version number are 0476, the firmware update was successful.
- If the last four digits of the version number aren't 0476, download and install the update again.
Q: The words UPDATE and ERROR are displayed alternately on the display window.
Please perform the following procedure:
- Disconnect the AC power cord from the wall outlet. Wait several minutes and then reconnect the power.
- Turn on the Sound Bar.
- Try the USB Storage Device (USB) Update again.
Q: The power was shut down during the update process.
Turn on the Sound Bar and try the update process again.
Q: The UPDATE_M28R0476.zip update file I downloaded does not create the MSB28-FW.BIN, MSB28-FW.ID, MSB28_MB.BIN and MSB28-FW_MB.ID files.
Delete the downloaded file and follow the steps in STEP 1. Download and transfer the Update Files to Your USB Storage Device to download the file again.
Q: The firmware update process is still not finished after running for more than 60 minutes.
Perform the following steps:
- Disconnect the AC power cord from the wall outlet. Wait several minutes and then reconnect the power.
- Turn on the Sound Bar.
- Follow the USB Storage Device (USB) Update Instructions again.
