Registration of the touchpad remote control or voice remote control always fails

Before you start

• Bluetooth® devices such as smartphones, tablets, computers, headphones, and speakers may interfere with the pairing process.
  • Move all Bluetooth devices away from the TV before pairing to avoid interference.
• If you have another Android TV™ device in your home, make sure that that TV is turned off before you start the pairing process.
• There are two types of remote controls mentioned in this article, the touchpad remote control (A), and the IR remote control (B) with voice recognition.

  

Troubleshooting steps:

1. Remove the batteries from the remote control and reinsert them.
   Notes:

   • Pairing can fail if the battery level is low. Replace the batteries with new ones and try pairing them again.
   • Google TV™ models released in 2022 or later (except for W8K and X74K_X75K series): When following the on-screen instructions, if the red LED above the microphone hole lights up and blinks rapidly for just two seconds, the battery level is low. Replace the batteries with new ones and try pairing them again.

2. Disable and then re-enable the Bluetooth function on your TV.

   1. Open the Settings screen according to your TV remote options:
      • Press the Quick settings ( or ) button, then select Settings.
      • Press the HOME button, then select Settings.
   2. Follow the steps according to your TV menu.
      • Select Remotes & Accessories → Bluetooth.
      • Select Remotes & Accessories → Bluetooth settings.
      • Under the Network & Accessories category, select Bluetooth settings.
      • Select BRAVIA Settings
   3. Select Bluetooth, then disable the function.
   4. Select Bluetooth again and enable the function.

3. Unpair the remote control if it's paired to the TV.

   Note: It's not necessary to first unpair the remote for certain models. You can skip this step for these models.

   List of models for skipping the steps to unpair the remote:

   • 2023 models: (except W8L and X77L series
   • 2022 models (except X75K series)
   • 2021 models (except W8 and X7 series)
   • 2020 models (except the X75H series)
   • 2019 models: A9F, Z9F, A9G, Z9G, X95G, X85G (55, 65, 75, 85) series with TV software updated to version 6.4960 or later

   1. On the IR remote control, press the HOME button.
   2. Select Settings.
   3. Follow the steps according to your TV menu.
      • Select Remotes & Accessories → Bluetooth.
      • Select Remotes & Accessories → Bluetooth settings.
      • Select Remotes & Accessories
      • Under the Network & Accessories category, select Bluetooth settings.
   4. Check if the touchpad remote control information (for example, SONY TV RC MIC 001) is displayed.
      • If the device information isn't displayed, proceed to Step 4.
      • If the device information is displayed, follow these steps to unpair the remote:
        1. Select the remote control device information.
        2. Select Unpair.
        3. Select OK.

4. Follow the pairing procedures in the next section.
