Preparation

Check the firmware version

If the version is displayed as MC 1.62 / NW 2994 or lower, we strongly recommend for you to update the firmware.
If you're not sure, it's easy to check which version of the firmware you currently have:

  1. Press the (power) button of the unit to turn on the system and wait a few minutes until the antenna icon is displayed.
  2. Press and hold the ENTER and (CD Eject) buttons on the unit, until MC X.XX is displayed.
  3. Turn the (TUNING) dial of the unit to the right and CD X.XXX is displayed on the display.
  4. Turn the (TUNING) dial of the unit to the right and NW XXXX is displayed on the display.
  5. Turn the (TUNING) dial of the unit to the right and it returns to the state before a version display.

Important Notice

IMPORTANT: If you have not performed software updates that were announced on 30-7-2016 or later on this Website, please unplug the speaker cable and/or the headphones before turning on the main unit.

Note: It is impossible to go back to the previous software version after the software update.

  • Read the instructions carefully or you could end up damaging your Home Audio System
  • Don't turn the Home Audio System off or disconnect it from the power while it's updating
  • Don't press any buttons, except the ones mentioned in the instructions
  • Don't pull out a power cord or a network (LAN) cable during download and update of the software.
  • Don't operate on the set and the remote controller during download and update.
  • Don't pull out a power cord until update is completed. It becomes a cause of failure of this system.

There are 2 easy ways to update the firmware on your Home Audio System:

Install

Updating your Home Audio System over the Internet

We recommend this method as it's the simplest way to update. It usually takes about 15-30 minutes. First set up the equipment, then download the update over the Internet to your Home Audio System.

What you need:

  • An active Internet connection (using Ethernet cable or wireless router)

Set up the equipment:

  • Please remove the speaker cable and the headphones before turning on the main unit
  • Connect the Home Audio System to your Internet source using an Ethernet cable or wireless connection via router

Install the update

  1. Press the (Power) button to turn on the system and wait a few minutes until the UPDATE icon is displayed.
  2. On the remote, press MENU, press ↑/↓ to select Update Menu, then press ENTER.
  3. On the remote, press ENTER when via Network is displayed.
  4. Press ENTER when OK is blinking.
  5. Wait about 10 minutes until the download and update are completed.

  6. On the remote, press OK to start the update.

  7. After Complete is displayed, press the (Power) button to turn OFF the system.
  8. Press the (Power) button again to turn the system back ON.
  9. Refer to the Check the firmware version section to confirm that the software is updated to the latest version.

Network Update Troubleshooting

If Cannot Download or Push POWER is displayed during the update, the software update failed. After this happens, you cannot use any operations (and all functions) on the set except the power button operation. Please check the condition of the system by following these steps, and complete the software update by using a USB flash drive.

  1. Press the (Power) button and turn OFF the system.
  2. Press the (Power) button again to turn the system back ON.
  3. Wait about 3 minutes (or until network connection is complete), then check the display on the system:
    • Update not completed is displayed:

      The Software update is NOT completed, but the system is in normal condition. Instead of the network update, please try the software update using the USB flash device procedure.
    • Update Retry is displayed:

      The Software update FAILED, and the system cannot be used in this condition. This is different from the Update not completed message. Please follow these steps:
      1. Download the CMTSX7V1623351.zip file to your computer, being sure to remember the location where you save the file.
        Note: File Size: 165 MB (173 711 325 bytes)
      2. Extract the file to your computer.
        Note: The extracted folder is called UPDATE.
      3. Make sure that these four files are included inside the UPDATE folder: LUTE04-FW.BIN, LUTE04-FW.ID, LUTE04-FW_MB.BIN and LUTE04-FW_MB.ID
      4. Copy the update files to the USB flash drive.
        Note: The update will not be performed if the file is not copied to the root directory of the USB device or if the name of the file is modified.
        • For Windows® operating system:
          1. Go to the directory where the folder was created, and Right-click the UPDATE folder
          2. From the appearing menu, click Send To....
          3. Click the drive that represents your USB device (e.g. Removable Disk E:)
          4. The update folder will be copied onto your USB device.
        • For Mac OS® X operating system: Drag and drop the UPDATE folder to the root folder of the USB device.
      5. Insert the USB flash device to the USB-A front connector when Update Retry is displayed.
      6. On the remote, press the ENTER button when OK appears on the screen.
      7. Wait about 10 minutes until download and update are completed.

      8. On the remote, press OK to start the update.

      9. After Complete is displayed, press the (Power) button to turn the system OFF.
      10. Refer to the Check the firmware version section to confirm that the software is updated to the latest version.

Update via USB Memory Device and your PC

We recommend you use the Internet to update if you can. If not, you can use this method instead. You'll download the update to your computer, transfer it to a USB memory device, then transfer it to your Home Audio System.

Preparations for Firmware Update

Before downloading the firmware, please ensure that your computer is running one of the following operating systems and prepare USB flash drive.

Operating Systems

  • Windows® 10
  • Windows® 8.1
  • Macintosh® OS X version 10.4 or later version

If you are using Windows® 10/8.1, please use it in desktop mode.
Operation is not guaranteed for all PCs installed with a compatible OS.

Recording Media requirements

USB flash drive: Capacity: more than 256 MB
Operation is not guaranteed for all USB flash drives.

Install the update

  • Make sure no program other than your Internet browser is running.
  • Read and agree to the terms and conditions
  • Download the CMTSX7V1623351.zip file to your computer, being sure to remember the location where you save the file.
    Note: File Size: 165 MB (173 711 325 bytes)
Transfer the update files to the USB storage device:
  1. Extract the file to your computer.
    Note: The extracted folder is called UPDATE.
  2. Make sure that these four files are included inside UPDATE folder: LUTE04-FW.BIN, LUTE04-FW.ID, LUTE04-FW_MB.BIN and LUTE04-FW_MB.ID

Transfer the update to your player

First get the equipment ready, then transfer the update to your Home Audio System.

Get the equipment ready:

Please remove the speaker cable and the headphone before turning on Main unit.

Transfer the update:
  1. Start the Home Audio System by pressing the (Power) button.
  2. Insert the USB flash drive (including the update files) into the USB-A front port.
  3. On the remote, repeatedly press the FUNCTION button and then select USB FRONT. Wait until ROOT is displayed.
  4. On the remote, press MENU, press ↑/↓ to select Update Menu, then press ENTER.
  5. On the remote, press ENTER when via USB is displayed.
  6. On the remote, press ENTER when OK is blinking.
  7. Wait about 10 minutes until download and update are completed.

  8. On the remote, press OK to start the update.

  9. After Complete is displayed, press the (Power) button to turn the system OFF.
  10. Press the (Power) button again to turn the system back ON.
  11. Refer to the Check the firmware version section to confirm that the software is updated to the latest version.
