This utility installs the UDA-1 USB DAC Amplifier driver software to support the playback of your audio files from your computer using the USB connection. This driver (version 1.2) also provides improved performance with other drivers and software running on the computer.

Important Notes

• Do not disconnect the USB cable or interrupt power during the driver installation.
• During the installation of this file, be sure that you are logged in to the computer as the Administrator or as a user with Administrative rights.
• To ensure that no other program interferes with the installation, save all work and close all other programs. The Taskbar should be clear of applications before proceeding.
• It is highly recommended that you print out these instructions for use as a reference during the installation process.
• If you have installed a previous version of the USB DAC Amplifier driver, it is necessary to uninstall the driver before installing this update.

How to uninstall the current version of the USB DAC Amplifier driver

• For the Windows 11 and Windows10 operating systems:
  1. Press the Windows Logo and R key combination to open the Run dialog box. Then type control and click OK.
  2. At the Control Panel screen, under Programs, click Uninstall a program.
  3. At the Uninstall or change a program window, scroll down the list and double-click SONY USB DAC Amplifier.
  4. Follow the on-screen instructions to uninstall the USB DAC Amplifier driver.
• For Microsoft Windows 8/8.1 operating systems:
  1. Swipe in from the right edge of the screen, and then tap Search.
     Note: When using a mouse, point to the screen's upper-right corner, move the mouse pointer down, and select Search.
  2. Click to select Settings.
  3. Type Add or Remove Programs.
  4. Click Add or Remove Programs.
  5. From the list, select the SONY USB DAC Amplifier, and then select Uninstall.
  6. Follow the on-screen instructions to uninstall the USB DAC Amplifier driver.
• For Windows Vista and Windows 7 operating systems:
  1. Click the Start and then click Control Panel.
  2. At the Control Panel screen, click Uninstall a program.
  3. At the Uninstall or change a program window, scroll down the list and double-click SONY USB DAC Amplifier.
  4. Follow the on-screen instructions to uninstall the USB DAC Amplifier driver.
• After the uninstall procedure is complete, continue with the download and installation instructions below.

System Requirements

This software requires a computer meeting the following system requirements:

• A USB port (USB 2.0 compliant).
• One of the following Microsoft Windows operating systems installed:
  • Windows 11
  • Windows 10
  • Windows 8/8.1
  • Windows 7 (with Service Pack 1)
  • Windows Vista (with Service Pack 2)

Download and Installation Instructions

1. Download the SONY_USB_DAC_Amp_Driver_V1.2.zip file to a temporary or download directory (please note this directory for reference) on your computer.
2. Connect the USB cable (supplied) to the USB port on your computer and to the back panel of the UDA-1 USB DAC Amplifier system.
3. Turn on the UDA-1 USB DAC Amplifier system.
   IMPORTANT: Do not disconnect the USB cable or interrupt power during the driver installation.
4. Go to the location where the SONY_USB_DAC_Amp_Driver_V1.2.zip file was downloaded and extract the Setup.exe file:
   1. Go to the directory where the file was downloaded and right-click the SONY_USB_DAC_Amp_Driver_V1.2.zip file, and then click Extract All.
      Note: For Windows 8, 8.1, and 10, the default settings for Internet Explorer will save the file in the Downloads folder.
   2. At the Extract Compressed (Zipped) Folders screen, click Extract.
   3. A new folder is created called SONY_USB_DAC_Amp_Driver_V1.2 which contains the Setup.exe file.
5. Go to the location where the folder was created and double-click to open the SONY_USB_DAC_Amp_Driver_V1.2 folder.
6. Double-click the Setup.exe file to begin the installation.
7. At the Welcome to the InstallShield Wizard for SONY USB DAC Amplifier screen, click Next.
8. At the Ready to Install the Program screen, click Install.
9. The Setup Status screen displays the installation progress.
10. At the InstallShield Wizard Complete screen, click Finish to restart the computer and complete the installation.

After the computer restarts, the driver installation is complete.
