What types of discs can be played on a DVD player?
The following table shows the playable DVD and CD disc types.
- Simply copying a movie file on to a disc using a computer is not sufficient for playback. You have to create a DVD disc using a disc creation software.
- Refer to your operating manual for the specific file types supported with disc media. Manuals are posted on your model support page.

- Not all playback features on a DVD or VIDEO CD may be playable on the DVD player. Refer to the operating instructions supplied with the DVD or VIDEO CDs for playback information and requirements.
- DVD players are designed to playback discs that conform to the Compact Disc (CD) standard. Dual Discs and some music discs encoded with copyright protection technologies do not conform to the Compact Disc (CD) standard. Therefore, these discs may not be compatible or may not playback as expected.
