How to add or remove a Google account on a Sony's Google TV or Android TV

IMPORTANT: This article only applies to specific products and/or operating systems. Please check the Applicable Products and Categories section at the bottom of this article before starting these steps.

Before you start

• Connect your TV to the internet beforehand.
• For details on the internet connection steps, refer to the following pages.

• Prepare a Google account with a registered email address and password.
• If you don’t have a Google account, you can create one on Google’s website. For details, refer to Create your Google Account.
• You can register more than one Google account on your Google TV™ or Android TV™ at a time (except for Android 6.0 or earlier).

How to add or remove a Google account

Follow these steps to set (add) a Google account on a Google TV or Android TV:

Note: The display screen may differ depending on the device or OS version. The following is just an example.

1. Open the Settings screen. How to access the Settings
   • If the remote control has a Quick Settings ( or ) button, press the Quick Settings button and select Settings.
   • If the remote control does not have a Quick Settings ( or ) button, press the HOME button and select Settings.
2. The next steps will depend on your TV menu options:
   • Select Accounts and profiles → Add an account.
   • Select Accounts & Sign In → Add account → Sign In or Google.
   • Select Accounts & Sign In → Add another account → Google.
   • Select Add account.
   
3. Enter the Email address and select NEXT.
   
   Note: Use the Arrow buttons to use the on-screen keyboard and press the center button to select.
   
4. Enter the Password and select NEXT.
   
5. After you have successfully logged in, the Google Account icon will be displayed together with the email address used to log in.
   

Notes:

• You can remove your account by selecting the Google Account icon displayed.
• Depending on the model, you can also sync your account or sync your apps by selecting the Google Account icon.
• For Android 6.0 or earlier: To register a different account, delete the registration information for your current account, and then add a different account.
  • Delete the registration information for your current account.
    1. Press the HOME button on the remote control.
    2. Select Settings→ Google in the Personal category→ Remove account→ OK.
  • Register a different Google account.
    1. Press the HOME button on the remote control.
    2. Select Settings → Add account in the Personal category→ SIGN IN.
