There are various factors that may prevent the software update from completing and a stable high-speed internet connection is required to download the update. Follow the steps below to troubleshoot the issue and attempt to perform the software update after each step.
1. Perform a power reset or restart of the TV.
- Turn off the TV.
IMPORTANT: For a projection TV that uses an internal lamp, wait 5 minutes after turning off the TV to allow the lamp to cool before continuing.
- Unplug the TV power cord from the electrical outlet.
- Let the television remain without power for 60 seconds.
- Plug the power cord back into the electrical outlet.
Note: If your TV was plugged into a power strip or surge protector, plug it directly into the wall outlet in case the power strip or surge protector was causing a problem.
- Turn on the TV.
Select the method depending on your TV.
- Restart the TV with the supplied remote control:
- Press and hold the POWER button until Power off appears on the screen
- Press and hold the POWER button until a menu appears → select Restart
- Restart using the menu. On the remote:
- Press
(Quick Settings) → Settings → System → Restart → Restart - Press HOME → Settings → About → Restart → Restart
- Press HOME → Settings → Device Preferences → About → Restart → Restart
Note: When restarting with the remote or menu, the TV will automatically power off and back on after a short time.
2. Troubleshoot the network connection.

- Confirm the network status of the television. For details, refer to the Performing a Network Diagnosis section in either of the following articles:
After performing a Network Diagnosis, make sure that all items of the Connection results display as OK or Found.
3. Use a USB flash drive to install the update.
and save it to a USB flash drive, then install it on your TV.
For certain TVs released in 2019 or before, the Automatic software download setting will allow the TV to automatically download new updates while in standby mode. If your TV has the Automatic software download setting, try turning the setting to On. For details on how to turn on the Automatic software download setting, refer to the following:
Note: This feature is not available on Google TVs.
For Android TVs
- On the remote control, press the HELP button.
- Select System software update.
- Select Automatic software download and set it to On.
For other than Android TVs
- On the remote control, press the HOME button.
- Select Settings.
- Select Customer Supports.
- Select Automatic software download and set it to On.
