No picture on my TV when using an HDMI connection

    Try these troubleshooting steps when there is no picture with a HDMI® connection between your device and the TV. It's recommended to make sure your TV has the most recent system software installed. Downloads are posted on your model support page.

    1. The power reset or restart of the TV is a recommended troubleshooting step that resolves many temporary issues.

    2. Verify which HDMI® input on the TV that the source device is connected to.
      • On the supplied TV remote control, press the INPUT button repeatedly until it displays the correct HDMI input where the source device is connected.
    3. If you're using an audio system such as an amplifier or theater system between the TV and your video source, make sure that the input setting on the audio system corresponds to the video output source.

    4. Try connecting to a different HDMI port on the TV.
      • If the issue is resolved, use this HDMI port or try connecting back to the previous HDMI port.
    5. If possible, try a different device that can output an HDMI video signal using the same connections.

    6. Make sure the connected device is set to output through its HDMI connection and the video format being output is compatible with the TV.

      • The output signal set on your source device may be indicated on its display or in its menus.
      • Some devices may output a 1080/24p or 1080/30p video signal, but some TVs can only accept a 1080/60p video signal. Changing the video output format of the connected device may resolve the issue. Check the manual or contact the manufacturer for further information.
      • The A/V receiver may not up-convert a signal to HDMI if you connected an analog connection type (Coaxial, Composite A/V, Component A/V, or S-Video) on the output device and the audio system. Check the receiver manual for details about other connection options.
    7. If the device is connected to an A/V Receiver or other components before being connected to the TV, try connecting directly to an HDMI input of the TV. If this works, your receiver or another device may not be an HDMI repeater and might not pass the signal on to the TV.
      • An HDMI repeater receives an audio/video signal from one HDMI device and passes it through to another connected HDMI device. While your device is supported for use with HDMI repeaters, products from other manufacturers may not be supported.
    8. Try changing the HDMI signal format on your TV to resolve the issue. If your HDMI format is set to Standard, change it to Enhanced, and if it's already set to Enhanced, change it to Standard. Check your TV manuals for specific information.

    9. Disconnect the HDMI cables from all devices and clear the data and cache from the ExternalInputServices app.

      Follow the steps as a bad connection may occur temporarily and cause this issue.

    10. Try using a different HDMI cable.

      • To view 1080p (60p) quality picture on the TV from an external device, make sure to use a High-Speed HDMI cable with the HDMI logo.
    11. If there's still no picture, perform a factory reset.
