How to reduce wind noise on Sony earbuds and headphones

When Noise Canceling or Ambient Sound Mode is on, wind noise may be louder depending on the surrounding environment. Use the Sony | Sound Connect app to change the Ambient Sound Control settings and see if the issue improves.

Note: The available settings may vary depending on your device.

    • Select Automatic Wind Noise Reduction or Wind Noise Reduction if it's available in the Ambient Sound Control menu.

Examples of compatible devices: WF-1000XM4, WH-1000XM4

    • If the menu screen displays a slider, move it left to lower the ambient sound level (ambient sound volume). Also, make sure Voice passthrough is turned off.

    • If the wind noise is still too loud, turn off Noise Canceling or Ambient Sound Mode.

Note: Automatic Wind Noise Reduction controls the Noise Canceling function by automatically turning off one or both of the noise-canceling microphones when a certain level of wind is detected, though it will not activate in light wind conditions. If Automatic Wind Noise Reduction activates, noise-canceling performance may temporarily decrease, but once the wind stops, the system detects it and turns Noise Canceling back on. This is not a malfunction.
