How to care for your LinkBuds Open (WF-L910)
Care and maintenance will help keep your LinkBuds Open in optimal condition. Regular cleaning of sound openings, contact points, and sensors will ensure optimal performance. Use only 99% water-based wipes for cleaning, and avoid sharp objects that could damage the protective mesh. If your earbuds get wet, follow the proper drying procedures before returning them to the case. With proper care, your LinkBuds Open will continue to deliver excellent sound quality.
Important notes regarding water and moisture
The charging case is not water-resistant. If the earbuds are charged while there is water or moisture left on them, the water or moisture can enter the charging case which can cause the unit to malfunction, or cause corrosion of the earbuds and/or charging case.
Maintenance and cleaning instructions
Clean the sound output holes
Accumulated debris or earwax can obstruct the sound output from earbuds, causing the audio to be quieter or inaudible. In such cases, use 99% water-based wipes to wipe off the debris. Be careful not to accidentally push debris or earwax into the earbuds.
Note: The mesh prevents earwax and other foreign matter from getting inside through the sound exit hole. Do not use a sharp tool to clean the sound output hole as it can damage the mesh and internal parts. If the mesh is damaged, earwax or foreign matter will get inside, causing abnormal noise to occur or other malfunctions.
Clean the earbud surface
Dust and dirt on the surface of the earbuds and fitting supporter can be wiped off with 99% water-based wipes.
If water droplets get on the earbuds, wipe them off with a dry, soft cloth. To prevent water droplets from freezing on the earbuds, do not leave the earbuds exposed to moisture during freezing temperatures.
Clean the charging ports
If foreign matter, sweat, or moisture is left on the charging port, wipe it off immediately and let it dry at room temperature. Otherwise, the charging function may be affected or not work at all. Be sure to regularly clean the contact points of the charging case and earbuds using a cotton swab or dry, soft cloth.
Note: If charging doesn't start, wiping off the charging ports may resolve the issue.
- Contact points on the charging case and the earbuds:
- Clean the contact points on the earbuds with a dry soft cloth or cotton swab.
Note: Do NOT use an air duster (canned air) to remove dust as it may get into the microphone or sound output holes, causing the earbuds to malfunction.
Clean the IR sensors
If the IR sensor is dirty, it may not detect the wearing conditions and the earbuds may not work properly. Wipe off any debris on the IR sensor with a dry, soft cloth.
Clean the charging case
Use a cotton swab to clean any debris from the area where the housing parts fit.
Drain the sound output holes
If water remains in the sound output holes, sound levels from the earbuds may be impacted. If this is the case, position the sound output holes facing downwards towards a dry cloth and shake about 10 times to get the water out.
Drain the microphone holes
Leaving water in the microphone holes may cause corrosion or other damage. To remove water, turn the microphone hole downwards towards a dry cloth, and then gently tap it about 10 times to get the water out.
Dry the earbuds
After you finish cleaning the earbuds, let them dry thoroughly at room temperature.
Once the earbuds are completely dry, set the earbuds into the charging case, check that the fitting supporter is properly placed inside the charging case, and close the lid.
