I bought this TV less than 2 years ago and it has never really worked right. SOmetimes I I I Iam unable to turn the TV on. Yesterday for the first time, the TV died. I am unable to get it back on. I hear a clicking noise when I plug it in. The button on the TV or the remote does nothing/ I have tried every trick from the Sony support website but nothing works. My expensive SONY TV does not work.

Bought this item 20 months ago and it now no longer turns on. It is wall mounted and wasn't even in use when the apparent failure occurred. Even after consulting Sony support, their advice is that it needs repair (and since Sony only offers 1 year warranty, we have a $1500 paperweight). Recommend going with a more reliable brand.

An excellent Sony tv. Very good pictures. It surprised me how easy it was to setup and load. I like that you have to choose it you want the microphone or internet or not. They are not loaded by default. We did not want microphone monitoring and we get the internet with our Apple tv. Also was easy to connect our Sony BVD player, Bose speakers, and Apple tv to the Sony tv. Only had to plug in on cable for each device.

I've had Sony Bravia's for years and decided to upgrade to this Bravia XR 50X90J. Wow, what a difference it has made. I realized my older Bravia's pictures were nice, but to see this one is over the top, gorgeous. With the Full Array LED and outstanding processor makes me want to watch it 24/7. There is nothing about this X90J that I don't like. It's a long list of things that are fantastic. Picture is outstanding. Clear, crisp colors. Excellent black and white contrast. Easily connected to my WiFi. Automatically connected with my Dish remote. Google TV comes with it and that is helpful. Sony has it's APPs, which are nice, but basic. Mounting and set up was super easy to do with 2 people. 50 inch screen is perfect for my smaller living room. Only con, if any, would be the remote. While it is helpful, there is NO backlight on it and that is a disappointment. Price was fantastic as it was on sale for $200 off MSRP. For the quality of a Sony with Full Array LED, it is truly worth the money spent. Highly recommend this Sony X90J, especially when the price is very reasonable and not as expensive as the OLED.

I cannot watch the tv unless I am sitting directly in front of it. This is my first Smart TV and I was not aware of the issues this purchase would present. I have used Sony Bravia for many many years and loved them but not this time. Screen goes black several times per week, after which it has to be restarted, which takes several minutes. I have complained about it and Sony sent the geek squad to replace the motherboard which they did. However, I did not fix the problem. So I’ve asked Toni to replace the television. And that hasn’t happened yet.

The Television is fantastic for everything in the range of programmes, films and playing games, for instance Xbox X. Sound quality is excellent especially with 4K films, Blu Rays through a player or through streaming. Google Assistant works well with the commands that are listed. All in all 10/10

I bought this to based on reviews, coming from a cheap LG tv I expected the x90j to be outstanding. This was not the case. I’ll start with picture quality, the blacks on this tv are awful. Blooming is so bad it takes the joy out of watching anything and changing settings does not help. The LG tv I had I bought for £500 and came with a magic remote which the x90j does not at nearly £1000, the sound is okay I guess but I use an external sound system. The backlight in this TV is what lets it down, I am told it’s an FALD which is far inferior to the LG nano I upgraded from. The TV also fails to turn on some times and we need to switch off at wall and back on again for it to work. I DO NOT RECOMMEND buying this tv. Based on my experience I am now looking at returning to LG and getting their OLED C2, I will not risk Sonys OLED.

Broken after 6 months

Initially, I was very happy with the TV, Amazing 4K Picture, the sound is a bit lacking so I use a soundbar, however after 6 months of use it has broken. No power at all, I am currently waiting for Sony to come out to repair the TV as they have to wait for parts. Mainly disappointed because, for a TV that is just 6 months old, I should have been offered a new replacement and not a repair. Good job it has a 5-year warranty as I presume I am going to have to use it a lot on this particular TV!

The TV has very pronounced blooming. So much so that some scenes look very hazy. I also get faint, blurry vertical bars on light backgrounds. Very disappointing for a set that I paid over $1000 for. In some ways my X90J performs worse than my KDL-52XBR4 that I bought in 2007. I would've tried to exchange it via a warranty claim but I waited too long and missed the warranty period. Now I'm stuck with a poorly performing TV. Extremely disappointed.

Good TV, good picture but the sound on the TV vs what is spoken does not sync up. Watching movies, or any other program is very frustrating because of this, makes watching a lot of programs unwatchable. Called customer service, was told I would receive trouble shooting information, but that information was never sent. TV will also sometimes cut off by itself.
Hi MOCO, While we're glad that you are happy with the picture quality, we regret to hear that the sound doesn't sync when watching movies or any program. This is definitely not the viewing experience we'd like you to have. We'd love to help you troubleshoot your problem and turn this into a better experience.
There are a number of circumstances that can cause the audio and video to be out of sync.
If watching a TV program, it could be the broadcast itself or a bad connection between your cable/satellite set-top box (if applicable).
If a DVD or Blu-ray Disc® player is connected, a poor connection or the disc itself could be the cause.
When connected to a home theater system with a digital optical cable, then there may be an audio delay that requires a manual adjustment on the home theater system. There may even be a setting on the TV itself causing this issue.
If the TV is connected to a soundbar or home theater system (with an HDMI cable or optical cable), the sound may be delayed due to audio processing delays in the soundbar or home theater system. In such cases, there are no issues with the TV speakers.
To troubleshoot the issue, please try the following:
Make sure that the TV has the latest system software (firmware) installed.
If watching a TV program, try changing the channel to see if the problem occurs on other channels; if it only occurs on one channel, then the issue is with the broadcast.
Make sure all cables are securely connected to the TV and the source device (set-top box, DVD player, BD player, home theater system, or game console).
Try playing a different video source to determine if the issue occurs with other connected devices.
If your TV has a Game Mode setting, do one of the following:
Set the Game Mode to Off when watching TV or playing a DVD or BD.
Set the Game Mode to On when playing a video game.
Perform a power reset on the TV.
If there is a home theater system and a digital optical cable is used in the connection, manually change the Audio/Video Sync or Audio Delay setting on the home theater system (if available).

I can only compare it with the nice 5 year old 50” Samsung we had. We are 67, and this might be it, as far as TV’s go. Went all the way. Geek Squad did the wall installation. Spend the bucks. It’s an investment. Don’t go cheap. The TV is great. I’m an Xboxer. It’s awesome. The TV is last year’s model. They just did the long promised VRR update. I don’t see a difference, but I’m not complaining. As long as I keep it under Geek Squad warranty, no lost sleep.

Bought in July nice quality picture a little disappointed as not all the usual/common apps were on it. Had a little trouble downloading them. Had a problem recently with bbc/itv/all 4 and channel5 apps not working at all. Had to call Sony for advice. They were good and talked me through what to do. Why don’t Sony get it right when updates are needed. My other tv a Samsung was fine.

Great upgrade from a 10-year old 1080 TV

Our old TV started to go on the fritz after 8-9 years of use. After researching what was available, I decided to go with a Sony Bravia, and I'm very glad I made that choice. The picture is beautiful and this is a particularly easy TV to set up. I particularly like how Bluetooth is handled. My wife is pretty hard of hearing so she uses a set of Sony headphones (WH-XB900N) connected by Bluetooth. Unlike using an external BT transmitter, there is NO audio lag when using them with the Bravia. If I have a complaint, it would be that TV sound can't be played simultaneously with Bluetooth. Access to audio for the headphones is a snap with the Quick Access menu button on the remote and I can switch audio over to my wife's headphones quickly. My setup is really simple. I plugged an Apple TV 4K directly into HDMI 3, then ran an optical cable from the TV to my Yamaha amplifier for sound to my speaker system. This is a workaround for not being able to have simultaneous sound from the TV and the headphones. I also have a Sony BluRay DVD player hooked into HDMI2. I'm very pleased with my purchase of a Sony Bravia TV and after living with it for a month or so, I'd definitely consider buying it again!

Great google tv for the price, not as good as my Sony oled but great LED picture upscaling, Freesat built in (two feeds capable of recording with usb stick or other external device in record USB port) really happy with it.

Bought this in August 2022 and been using for a month. It's much better than the Vizio 50" I had which was decent. I use the smart tv app (Google) and it's also much better. I stream everything - YoutubeTV, Amazon Prime, Netflix, Hulu, etc. It does a great job handling lower quality and upscaling. I have it mounted across from a window which gets lots of sun and the reflection issue is real if using during the day. You see it when the tv is off but once it's on it's not as bad. However, I bought blackout curtains and issue resolved. I've tested some 4K videos and just wow. The speakers however are crap. They're good for a tv but I'd recommend a sound bar. Overall really impressed with the model for that year and didn't see a need for the newer model as I'm not a gamer.

This is a great TV, so far I can't find anything to fault. Very easy to set up, straight out of the box picture settings and sound settings are all brilliant. The picture quality, especially in true UHD / Vision etc is superb. Syncs perfectly with the PS5, no difficulty in accessing all of the advanced features, refresh rates VRR etc. Easy to wallmount as it's not too heavy, although would be easier with two people. Highly recommended, a wonderful addition to my audio visual lineup, and very pleased that I bought this TV.

Not as bright a picture as anticipated. Sound is fine. Set up was OK but despite best efforts unable to get the CORE feature loaded. Was able to download APKs via Downloader despite retailer advising this was not possible.
