Very sharp picture but a few problems

Bought at Thanksgiving 2020 and use as my second TV. Picture and sound quality are exceptional. This is the only Android TV I own and I like the interface. Intuitive and easy to navigate. However, I have two big complaints for a TV this expensive: 1. To me my TCL TV is much brighter without oversaturating the picture. To get the Sony to it's brightest setting(Vivid) it really oversaturates the screen which I don't like. I thought this would be my #1 TV to watch but I now prefer watching the TCL because it's just easier to watch. 2. I've run all software updates but I've had to completely erase all settings and "reset up the TV" three times now to get the TV to work properly. Two times, I accidently left the TV on, it went into standby mode and when I "woke it up" none of the apps would work. Turning the TV off and on didn't help so I had to completely wipe it clean and set it up from scratch which is very time consuming and frustrating. The other time, the optical out stopped working. A red light was still present but it stopped sending a signal to my receiver. Again I tried everything and eventually had to reset up the TV and that fixed it. Again, I expect better performance from a TV this expensive.

There are so many bugs in the operating system there isn't enough room to write them down. I'll list some of the major issues. Every couple of days I have to unplug the tv to recover after it hangs. The tv channel banner gets stuck all the time. Streaming movies buffer all the time. I realize there could be many external reasons for this, but I don't see any issues with my ISP or WiFi. What I don't understand is why there are so few Sony updates. The computer hardware is overwhelmed.

Line has appeared on Screen

I bought the Tv 3 years ago and have a 5 year warranty. A line has appeared at the bottom of the screen and Sony wont repair it, they say I have misused the tv when all I do is watch movies and shows on the tv. Me and my wife are in our 50’s and do not play any games or anything, how this can be classed as misuse is beyond me.

Line has appeared on my TV

I bought the tv 3 years ago and have a 5 year warranty which Sony does not cover the line that has appeared on the bottom of the screen. They said I misused the tv when all I did was watch tv on it. Don’t buy any Sony products as the warranty is useless.

Nice picture, but software is horrible

This tv gets a nice picture. Beyond that this television has been an absolute nightmare. Software is so buggy that at least weekly, sometimes more, we are forced to unplug the television because it has locked up. I have reset tv and reinstalled all of the apps which helps for a bit, but eventually it goes right back to freezing (and other bugs). My most expensive television has turned out to be the worst one I have ever owned. If I had bought a lesser brand television at a quarter of the cost I could maybe accept some glitches, but I expected more from a Sony. Won't happen again.

Power Reset: Turn off the TV and unplug the power cord for two minutes, then plug it back in and turn on the TV. This can help reset the system.
Restart the TV:
Using the remote control, press and hold the POWER button until "Power off" appears on the screen, then press and hold the POWER button again until a menu appears and select "Restart."
Alternatively, you can navigate through the menu: Press the HOME button on the remote, go to Settings → System → Restart → Restart.
Install Pending Updates: Ensure all pending updates from the Google Play Store are installed.
Press the HOME button on the remote, go to Apps, and select Google Play Store.
Go to My Apps and install all pending updates.
After updating, press and hold the power button for 5 seconds to reboot the TV.
Clear App Data and Cache:
Press the HOME button on the remote, go to Settings.
Select Apps → See all apps.
Select the appropriate application, then select Clear data and Clear cache.

Disgraceful, after less than 3 years, dead pixels

After less than 3 years, hundreds of dead pixels appeared in the corner of the TV all around. It's like spreading. This is my second TV, as the first one I had to send it back for the same issue in the first days. This one roughly lasted 3 years. I would accept some dead pixels, but this amount in a premium expensive device is a total joke. I feel like money wasted, I would never ever buy an expensive or Sony TV in the future, as the 1 year warranty already gone, and the shop 5 year extended warranty does not cover dead pixels.

Expensive mess

I bought this product to replace my Sony OLED that lasted less than 3 years. Unfortunately this one doesn’t seem to be much better. Turns off by itself while watching for no reason, slow interface which means you press the arrow keys several times before it responds and then it goes past the option you wanted. Clearly inferior processors have been used which is shocking given the price of this set. Dead pixels complete the disaster. Would not recommend this or any other Sony TV.

Top TV, outside the Google Software

Been several years now since my purchase of this A8H TV and it's a great looking TV. My only complaint is the search function. Forget about searching for movies and TV shows to stream. You just get a bunch of junk web recommendations with built-in Google search results (like a web browser), but this TV does not have a good web browser, so what is the point? But outside of the ads in the menu and Google search, TV is great - just remember to restart/reboot the software every 2 months or it acts up. 5 start TV, 3 Star software - so 4 star overall

For us the SD viewing and upscaling was important viewing some older material on TV. The Android system was an attraction too with the power of development behind it. I got this TV from my Mother or Christmas because it's the one that I ask for because it had high reviews. I don't deny that the TV was great sound quality was great. The picture was amazing the price was a little steep especially Since my TV no longer works And I can't figure out why and I should still be under warranty because it was only purchased last year. But given that I cannot provide proof of purchase because of my mother's death in August she had the. Receipt and I don't know what to do about it I registered the product and and I know where my mom bought the TV app. But from what I understand Sony Sony has a 3 year warranty on O LED bravia T v's. This TV was manufactured in 2001 and I got it in 2002 and here it is 2003 and I can't. Get it to work. I don't want to put out more money to have it fixed when I paid almost 3000. Dollars for the TV itself I was helping Sony Donnie could return to me and give me advice on what to do in this situation I'm sure. I'm not the only one that's had this issue. But I am in a difficult situation providing proof of purchase because of my mother's death and not having the physical receipt.

Superb TV

When this TV was set up (a doddle), I was amazed by how much better the picture was, the vivid colours, the amazing black levels, how technology has come on over the years! I bought this tv a little over a year ago. It has a wonderful picture being an OLED but after about 1 year and a couple months it stops being able to play papas like Disney plus, ESPN plus, HBO max, and Hulu. It also seems to be super laggy and sometimes disconnects from the Wi-Fi.

The performance is great but now after a few years there is a problem happening on the TV. I don’t know if it’s the TV itself That I hear clicking noise like TV have turned on, but TV is not on. Amazing Improvement is both Vision and Sound

This was a long awaited upgrade to our last Sony Bravia purchased over 12 years ago, but we had no idea how much TVs had moved on in those 12 years. The new one is significantly larger, the picture is so clear and crisp, it's a pleasure to watch and we are spending more time looking at the picture than the programme. As for the sound, we thought our hearing had deteriorated during those 12 years, and had the subtitles on nearly all the time, but no longer. The sound quality is superb. The controls have yet to be totally mastered, but the ability to change signal source or programme with speech commands via the handset is unexpected but welcome. We are delighted.

Fabulous TV

I bought this 65" TV when it was on an offer so good I couldn't really say no! The picture quality is amazing and the slender minimalist design means the screen size is not overwhelming in my living room. I am so glad I bought this TV when I did as it has been wonderful having the neighbours round to watch the Lionesses. Now I'm really enjoying the Commonwealth games! Set up was extremely easy and instructions straightforward to follow - once I had help getting it out of the box I did all the technical stuff on my own (60+ female) including hooking up to my tuner/speakers and other devices etc. I will need professional help to mount it on the wall though. I love this TV - well worth the money

Its like having my own cinema screen! Especially with the Sony sound-bar and woofer i bought separately! I thought my last tv (50” plasma panasonic) was a big tv but this 65” made it feel like when I swapped my 21” for a 32” 15 years ago! It was very easy to set up, especially if you already have accounts with some of the service providers, EG google, amazon, Disney. Also good if you have your phone to hand and connected to the same wifi Also love the fact that its a smart tv and voice control. And apple airplay/ Bluetooth connection.

Incredible picture

I have been a Sony guy since my first tv but this tv was good enough that I wanted to take time for a quick review. I've become known as the tech guy in my family and social circles and I've always given Sony my top ranking of what tv they should buy, and I'm sure a few friends are tired of hearing about how much I love this tv! I've had several tvs from 46 on up and the first one I bought almost 20 years ago is still running and looking good, along with the other 5 Sony tvs. I've been waiting to get my hands on one of the oled models since their 11" model came out long ago and this was the first one I could get that wouldn't cost me a marriage, and it was worth the wait. I regularly get comments that the screen is so thin that it can't work as well as it does. If you are someone looking for the deepest blacks you can get on a tv today, the a8h or the newer version will surely be a good addition to your household. I still comment to my wife that I can't believe the picture quality on 4k content is this good, and I've had it 18 months.

Love the TV overall. This is my second Sony OLED. Bought a 55” in 2020. Fantastic picture and love the EARC. Miss the Sports Picture Mode option and the inability to turn off the “ping” sounds when switching between apps that is available on my other OLED. Otherwise love it! Big Sony fan!

Not happy with quality

I bought this TV from Amazon on the 22nd of march it worked fine for a few days then it randomly turned off and the front led starting blinking red 4 times so I had to unplug it from the wall and wait a min to turn it back on.that was once then happened again and again and again randomly.i had enough so returned it back to amazon.plus u can't adjust the picture settings on hdr or SDR independently which wound me up as it is.i won't be buying a Sony ever again and went back to my hisense u8g that's actually works and half the price.

Super picture, amazing eARC, blah Android

I bought this about a month ago, in a 65", paired with a Sony STR-DH790 receiver. Wow, what a picture, and even the sound is considerably improved using eARC over Optical. It is an Android TV, so the apps options are much more limited than Roku (formerly had a 55" TCL 6 series with Roku). I found Roku to be easier to use. The TV speakers just don't compare with my large NHTs. Ive had home entertainment systems for decades and this is the very best so far!!! Caught this at LT half-price, an excellent open box at BB. Replace Android/Google with Roku and it would get a 5.

I’ve been a Sony tv guy for years and have always been very pleased with the picture quality. The A8H is no exception. The picture was good out of the box but sm still trying to dial it in. Couldn’t pass the sale price too.

Better than expected

I have had this TV for 2 or 3 weeks and have realized that it is much more enjoyable to watch TV when I'm not trying to see the the blacky muck of a standard LED screen. My friends have the a new Samsung QLED 75in 8K and though the imagine is very clear, it suffers from the mucky black syndrome as my 32in Samsung 4k QLED. My friend was right, an *K may have a higher resolution, BUT the OLED will ALWAYS have a better picture quality. I'll take my 65in Sony 4K OLED over their Samsung 8K QLED any day!!!
