Applicable Products and Categories of This Article

This issue may occur in the following situations:

  • If you're watching a TV program, it could be the broadcast itself or if applicable, a bad connection between your TV and cable box or satellite set-top box.
  • If you connect a DVD or Blu-ray Disc™ player to your TV, poor connection or the disc itself could be the issue.
  • If you connect a home theater system to your TV with an optical cable, you may need to adjust a setting on your home theater system. There might be a setting on your TV that's causing this issue.

Solution

Check if the audio and video are in sync after completing each step.

  1. Make sure your TV has the latest software update installed. Downloads are posted on your model support page.
    • Not all TVs have a software that you can update. Check your manual for model-specific information. Manuals are posted on your model support page.
    • If your TV has an active internet connection, you can download the software update through its menu.
  2. If you're watching a TV program, change the channel to see if this issue occurs on other channels.
    • If the issue occurs on one channel only, the issue is with the broadcast. Contact your broadcast network provider for further assistance.
  3. Make sure that all cables are securely connected to your TV and your source device such as set-top box, DVD player, Blu-ray Disc player, home theater system, or game console.
  4. Play a different video source to determine if the issue occurs with other devices.
  5. On your TV, set the Game Mode setting accordingly.
    • Set the Game Mode to Off when watching TV or playing a DVD or Blu-ray Disc.
    • Set the Game Mode to On when playing a video game.
    • Not all TVs have this setting. Check your manual for model-specific information. Manuals are posted on your model support page.
  6. If the issue occurs when using the TV speakers, perform a power reset on your TV.
  7. If you connect a home theater system to your TV with an optical cable, if available, change the A/V Sync or Audio Delay setting on your home theater system.
    • Audio delay adjustments usually range from 0 millisecond to approximately 250 milliseconds.
    • Check your manual to see if A/V Sync or Audio Delay setting is available on your home theater system. Manuals are posted on your model support page.
    • For a third-party home theater system, check the instruction manual or contact the manufacturer for information on how to adjust the A/V sync setting.
  8. If you connect an audio system such as soundbar, receiver, or home theater system to the HDMI IN (ARC) port of your Android TV™ device and the issue only occurs when watching TV programs from an antenna connection, perform the following:
    • Set Digital audio out to PCM.
      1. On the supplied remote control, press the HOME button.
      2. Select Settings.
      3. Under TV category, select Sound.
