Screen reader for an Android TV

    The Screen reader works by vocalizing information on the Android TV™ screen, such as the program guide and setting screen, which people with visual impairment might not be albe to fully acquire from their sight. In order to use the screen reader function, an internet connection is necessary.

    Before you start

    • The screen reader function only reads text that you can focus or highlight.
    • The screen reader function is available only for some countries and languages.
      • Check the available languages through the Accessibility settings on the TV.

    • Only the following preinstalled apps are confirmed to support the screen reader function:
      • Netflix®
      • Prime Video™
      • Vudu®
      • Crackle®
      • YouTube™
      • Google Play™ Movies & TV
    • Only models released in the United States support verbal description for channel changing.

    Activate Screen reader from the Settings

    Note:  Activating the Screen reader function on TVs with eARC will deactivate the eARC mode.

    1. On the supplied remote, press the HOME button.
    2. Select SettingsSettings.
    3. Select Accessibility.
    4. Select Screen reader.
    5. Select Enable.
    6. Select OK.

    Change the language

    1. Press the HOME button.
    2. Select SettingsSettings.
    3. Select Accessibility.
    4. Select Text to speech.
    5. Select Engine configuration.
    6. Select Language.
    7. Select your preferred language.
      • The screen reader function works if the Language in Settings matches the language selected in Engine configuration.

    Change the speech rate

    1. Press the HOME button.
    2. Select SettingsSettings.
    3. Select Accessibility.
    4. Select Text to speech.
    5. Select Speech rate.
    6. Select your preferred speech rate.
