BRAVIA CAM: Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

    Connect the external camera BRAVIA CAM to the BRAVIA™ TV to enjoy new experiences such as Video Chat with a distant family member or Gesture Control, allowing you to control your TV without remote control. This page will guide you to frequently asked questions and helpful tips about the BRAVIA CAM.

    Notes:

    • BRAVIA CAM (CMU-BC1) is an optional accessory. However, the BRAVIA CAM (CMU-BC1M) is supplied with the Z9K and A95K model series TVs.
    • The Gesture Control and Camera Sensing functions are available with a software update. Downloads are posted on your model support page.

    Notes:

    • The camera sensing functions will be available after a software update.
    • If your BRAVIA TV supports the camera sensing functions, Proximity Alert is displayed in the BRAVIA CAM settings. On the remote control, press the Quick Settings (spanner or gear) button, and select SettingsRemotes and accessoriesBRAVIA CAMProximity Alert.

    What is the sensing range of BRAVIA CAM?

    The distance from the TV recognized by the camera sensing function is inaccurate.

    An object other than people (photo, doll, animal, etc.) is recognized as people, and the camera sensing function is activated.

    When I turned off a camera sensing function, such as Auto adjust Picture & Sound setting, a restart message was displayed.

    Auto adjust Picture & Sound

    Notes:

    • Not all TV models support the Auto adjust picture & sound feature. If your BRAVIA TV supports this feature, Auto adjust Picture & Sound or Auto adjust according to viewing position is displayed in the Quick settings or Picture settings:
      1. On the remote control, press the Quick Settings (spanner or gear) button.
      2. The next steps will depend on your TV menu options:
        • You can find Auto adjust Picture & Sound or Auto adjust according to viewing position.
        • Select Settings → Display & Sound → Picture Auto adjust Picture & Sound.
    • For 2022 TV models: If the Auto adjust picture & sound camera sensing feature is not available, then update your TV software version.

    Where is the camera setting for Auto adjust picture & sound?

    Is it possible to set how the Auto adjust Picture & Sound function recognizes people?

    Auto adjust Picture & Sound sometimes doesn't work

    Picture/Sound setting (Brightness, Voice emphasis, Balance) can't be changed after disabling camera feature

    After using the Auto adjust Picture & Sound option, the set value does not return to what it was before using that option.

    Gesture Control

    Use the supplied remote control for Gesture Control features:

    • To activate Gesture Control: Press the Quick Settings (spanner or gear) button → SettingsSystemGesture ControlEnable.
    • To change the Recognition settings: Press the Quick Settings (spanner or gear) button → SettingsSystemGesture ControlRecognition settingsPrioritize speed or Prioritize accuracy.

    Are the gestures the only ones I learned in the tutorial?

    Gestures may not be recognized in the following circumstances:

    Gestures can be detected by unintentional action:

    Proximity Alert

    • If your BRAVIA TV supports the Proximity Alert function, Proximity Alert is displayed in the BRAVIA CAM settings. On the remote control, press the Quick Settings (spanner or gear) button, and select Settings → Remotes and accessories → BRAVIA CAM → Proximity Alert.

    The distance to launch the Proximity Alert is not accurate, or the Proximity Alert doesn't work according to the distance

    Video Chat

    When using the Video Chat application with BRAVIA CAM, no image is displayed, and only the audio is output.

    Your video image is displayed to the other party is displayed, but it is not actually displayed.

    The BRAVIA CAM may not be accessible after turning the TV OFF and ON with the remote control while using the Video Chat app on the camera.

    The BRAVIA CAM stops working after I close and open the camera cover during a call while using the Video Chat app.

    LED

    What is the white LED indicator on the BRAVIA CAM, and when does it come on?  

    The camera LED indicator is lit even though the shutter has closed.

    Screen and Picture quality

    The camera image flashes (hunting) when shooting with a camera connected to the TV. (eg. preview/selfie application etc.)

    The camera image has white noise while shooting.

    The camera image has a flicker.

    Software update

    The BRAVIA CAM update fails

    After removing and inserting BRAVIA CAM during a camera update, BRAVIA CAM does not respond.

    Others

    The BRAVIA CAM attached to the top center of the TV is getting warm.

    When should I use Clear data in the BRAVIA CAM settings?
