PCM is displayed on the speaker system or headphone amplifier even though the smartphone is set to play content with DSD
Because smartphones convert DSD (Direct Stream Digital) signals to PCM (Pulse Code Modulation) for output, PCM will be displayed on the speaker system or headphone amplifier, since that is what is being detected.
Notes: It may be possible to change the sound output on the smartphone to DSD. For details on verifying and changing the sound output to the DSD format, refer to your smartphone manual. If your model can output in the DSD format, then the speaker system or headphone amplifier should detect and display PCM.
