What File Formats Does the Album, Music, and Video Apps Support on My Android TV?

There are two ways to check the supported file formats on your Android TV™ device.

  • Check the online Help Guide. Manuals are posted on your model support page.
  • Check your TV's Help Guide.
    • Use the HOME button
      1. On the supplied remote control, press the HOME button.
      2. Under the Settings category, select Help? icon.
        • Select the Apps Apps icon, then select Help? for TVs with Android™ 8.0 Oreo™ operating system.
      3. Under the How to use your TV category, select Help Guide.
      4. Under Help Guide, select Using the TV with Other Devices.
      5. Select USB device.
      6. Select Supported files and formats.
      7. Click on a type of media to view the supported formats.
    • Use the HELP button
      1. Press the HELP button.
      2. Under the How to use your TV category, select Help Guide.
      3. Under Help Guide, select Using the TV with Other Devices.
      4. Select USB device.
      5. Select Supported files and formats.
      6. Click on a type of media to view the supported formats.

Note:

  • LPCM audio format is for Home Network only.
  • 2K TV models don't support 4K video playback.
  • If the TV supports the file format but doesn't play, check if the music or video is broken. Use your computer to test the files.
  • You may be able to play back other formats not listed in Supported files and formats , but we don't guarantee proper operation.
