This may happen when you record AVCHD, XAVC S HD, and XAVC S 4K movies while your camera is connected to a TV or external monitor with an HDMI® cable. Using a combination of settings like FILE FORMAT, HDMI Settings, and 4K OUTPUT Sel. will affect whether the image and recording settings appear on the LCD screen, or on the connected external display.

Check the following combination of settings when you record:

File Format is set to XAVC S HD or AVCHD, and HDMI Info. Display is set to On.

File Format is set to XAVC S HD or AVCHD, and HDMI Info. Display is set to Off.

File Format is set to XAVC S 4K, and the storage medium is a memory card.

File Format is set to XAVC S 4K and 4K Output Sel. is set to HDMI Only.

If your camera is still connected to the external monitor with an HDMI cable during playback, the images will only appear on the external monitor regardless of the HDMI Info. Display setting and whether the File Format is set to 4K or HD. The camera screen display is off.
